Bigger & Better Business
Bigger and Better Business is Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.’s oldest national program — a longstanding commitment to economic empowerment in our communities.
What Bigger & Better Business Focuses On
At the national level, the program spans business development, financial literacy, and economic partnerships. Here's how the chapter thinks about that work locally.
Supporting Black-Owned Business
Bigger and Better Business was Phi Beta Sigma's first national program, launched in 1924 to encourage and strengthen Black-owned businesses through networking and resources.
Financial Literacy
Nationally, the program promotes financial literacy and wealth-building — skills that benefit our brothers and the broader community alike.
Economic Partnerships
From homeownership to entrepreneurship support, Bigger and Better Business connects members with partners who help move the needle on economic empowerment.
Networking, Collin County Style
Our Astute Tuesdays Premier Networking Series already brings professionals and entrepreneurs together in the spirit of Bigger & Better Business.
Astute Tuesdays connects our brothers with professionals and entrepreneurs across Collin County to build meaningful business relationships — you can see past and upcoming installments on our events page.
A National Win for Collin County

Bro. Dr. Rico Singleton
At the 2025 International Conclave, Bro. Dr. Rico Singleton of Tau Zeta Sigma won 1st place and $20,000 in the James “Billboard” Jackson Entrepreneur Competition with Crescent Restaurant Group — putting Collin County on the map in Phi Beta Sigma’s premier national showcase for Sigma entrepreneurs.
BBB Director — Currently Vacant
Our chapter’s BBB Director role is currently vacant. Bro. Edwin Hood has graciously stepped in to help lead our Bigger & Better Business efforts in the interim. Bro. Robert Ricks, our Director of Corporate Relations, also supports related work at the intersection of business and community partnerships.
Beyond Astute Tuesdays, our full slate of chapter-specific Bigger & Better Business initiatives — financial literacy workshops, small business support, and more — is still being developed. Details will be posted here as our programming grows.
